In the last 11 months, a local company called Alcal Specialty Contracting, Inc. (a subsidiary of Pacific Coast Building Products, both based in Sacramento) has responded to increased market demand for residential energy efficiency products by creating a new Home Services Division to air seal and add new insulation and garage doors to existing homes. These simple retrofits improve comfort, dramatically decrease heating and cooling energy consumption, and help consumers reduce their energy bills. They have hired new personnel including administrative staff, installation crews, and sales people with salaries ranging from $16-$44 per hour. With branches across California, and subsidiaries and manufacturing facilities across the Western United States over California from Sacramento to Fresno to San Diego, Alcal and Pacific Coast are examples of good California companies creating great jobs using American-made products to reduce energy consumption. While Alcal Home Services Division Manager Greg Sutliff says he and his company are "saving the world one attic at a time", company President and CEO Darren Morris says "We're committed to quality and customer service in everything we do, so we always stand behind our products and make sure each job fulfills the client's specific needs."
