Why this petition matters

Started by Calvin Sung

Homelessness has been a complex problem facing our society. More than 100,000 people consider the sidewalks of California their home. They reside beyond just downtown and urban communities, looking for resources in suburban and rural areas. Their situation is not their own to bear, it is California’s as well. We see small businesses face unnecessary burdens co-existing with their homeless communities, and parks becoming an unwelcoming environment for our children. This problem continues to exacerbate with the rising cost of housing and limited affordable housing options.

However, a bipartisan coalition of members from the California State Senate introduced a solution that aims to address problem at its roots, the lack of homes for the homeless. The “No Place like Home” initiative will give local communities the resources they need to directly build housing for this population.

I ask that you please sign this petition and share this with your friends and family members. It will take all of California, working together, to solve homelessness once and for all.
