"Senate Bill 100 (de Leon) helps to ensure additional direct emission reductions from the electricity sector. Direct reductions benefit communities living near fossil-fuel power plants, which emit a range of air pollutants that adversely affect the health of those communities. Therefore, by increasing the renewable portfolio standard requirement, California will achieve greater pollution reduction and healthier, sustainable communities."
